Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

When you think about your wedding day you imagine every detail from the cake to your bouquet and your dress to the song you will dance with your new husband to for the first time. It is also important to think about your bridal party and the people you are thinking of asking to take part in it. I often hear people tell their stories about how they struggled to choose that one individual to be their maid of honor. You might be thinking how do I choose between my two sisters or two very best friends? It's a tough choice, especially when the last thing you want is to disappoint someone. Read these tips for choosing the best person to be your maid of honor as well as the women you would like to be in your bridal party. How many is too many or just the right amount? Also, notice some cute and creative ideas for asking the big question to your best girls (or maybe guys)!

How to Choose Your Maid of Honor

The love of your life just asked you to marry him and the next thought in your mind before planning the big day is who to have in your bridal party, most importantly as your maid of honor. This is a big choice, so how do you choose the right one? Remember when choosing this individual not to think of it as a problem that needs a solution. There may have been times that you were in weddings for your friends and you may be feeling obligated to have them in yours. The people you choose shouldn't be a solution, but who you couldn't imagine getting married without. Don't feel pressured to choose someone in your family as your MOH, choose that special person you are closest with, your go to that you tell everything to. If you are someone who likes a modern twist- it is possible to have more than one maid of honor or none at all. To step even more out of the box, consider having a male be your MOH "man of honor". I can tell you from experience, GBF's give some of the best advice whether it be that look you're going for or even more personal feedback when you need it.

Another side note, choose someone you trust that can help you plan, who is responsible and won't let you down during this amazing, emotional and often stressful process.

Bridesmaids!

Now that you have chosen that special person to be your MOH, the fun part follows...completing your bridal party! It is important to think hard about the people you would like in your bridal party. Make sure you are certain because once you ask, you cannot go back. If you're on the fence about asking someone, unsure of how they would cope with the rest of the group, do yourself a favor and keep them off of the list. Make sure to set expectations for your bridesmaids. Would you like their help addressing invitations, dress shopping, accompanying you on important wedding appointments? If you simply don't value these things, then it isn't a "big deal" to ask your "go with the flow" friend to join the group. Consider asking both men and women, even family. Remember when doing so to keep in mind the size of your bridal party. Imagine purchasing dresses for 10 bridesmaids or finding a free weekend you can all go away together. Lastly, don't make the mistake of choosing someone just because they chose you! They could be unpredictable or undependable and that's not necessarily who you want helping you plan your big day!
